If you are like me, you probably have a million or two pins, pinned to one of your many boards, but you never get around to trying them. Well I finally decided to actually try some of them.
First, I tried my hand at natural dying. I am not sure how some of the people that I watch in videos get their shirts to work, but I was very unsucessful with this adventure.
Using Pennies for Natural Clothes Dye
I watched a video on Pinterest and it said that if you put pennies in a pot of boiling water, and the pennies would releases a blue dye. I boiled my pennies for 30 minutes and my water was not the slightest hint of blue:(
Has anyone been successsful dying with pennies?
Avocados for Natural Dye:

The skin and the seed of an Avocado releases a soft pink color when boiled. I was able to extract the pink dye from the avocado, but it did not stain the shirt as darkly as I was hoping it would.

So, I added some black rice to the pot. The black rice turned the shirt a pinkish plum color. I then removed the pot from heat and let it cool for 24 hours. I left the shirt to dry for another 24 hours before washing it. Unfortunately, after I washed my shirt, it faded to the light pink again:(
I am working on dying with Turmeric, Cabbage, and red onions next.
I then went on to realize I needed to clean up my kitchen, there was a little splatters of pink everywhere!
After scrubbing and cleaning the counters, I decided to deep clean the places that I often never touch. That’s right the oven and the dishwasher! Now we just recently moved into a new apartment, and we did not deep clean the oven or the dishwasher before, so they 100% needed it!
Deep Cleaning your Dishwasher
I love this simple way to deep clean your dishwasher, and you do not even really have to scrub. All you have to do is place a small bowl in the top rack of your dishwasher, fill it with vinegar, and then run your dishwasher on the hottest wash setting. Once, the wash finishes, sprinkle baking soda on the bottom of the washer, at this point you can scrub your dishwasher if you would like (I did not), and then again run it on the hottest setting. Ta-Da! You have just deep cleaned your dishwasher.
This one I was really successful with! It is recommended to do this every 3-4 months.

Deep Cleaning your Oven:
This one also worked really well for me and it is so easy, and guess what, all you need is baking soda and vinegar.
First you sprinkle baking soda along the bottom of the oven and then spray vinegar on the baking soda. You do not want the vinegar to form a puddle in your oven, so be sure you spray it or sprinkle it very carefully. The mixture will start to fizz, close the oven and leave it for at least four hours or you can let it sit overnight. Then you just wipe away the mixture and Ta-Da. Your oven has been deep cleaned!
If there is still any spots left once you finish wiping, you can use water to scrub it up.
Finally, I tried a few beauty DIY’s. These are so simple and you probably already have everything you need at home!
Strawberry Teeth Whitener:

I am on the fence about this one. It is said that the enzymes in strawberries are supposed to make your teeth whiter, I do think this works, but I will share the recipe anyway, maybe one of you can make it work:)
Things you need:
- Strawberries
- Baking soda

Mix it all together and brush your teeth with the mixture. I followed with regular brushing as well.
Sugar Wax:
Now this stuff is gold! Learn to make it, and you wont have to buy a razor ever again. Sugar Wax is a homemade wax that is all natural and really does not hurt as much as regular waxing.
Things you will need:
- 2 cups of sugar
- 1/4 cup of lemon juice
- 1 cup of water

You will add all the ingredients to a pot and bring it to a boil. Once boiling you want to let the mixture become frothy, like really frothy, then stir until it starts to form into a was like consistency. You want to make sure that you stir, stir, stir because if not the mixture will become hard again, and you will have to start all over. Then you let it cool.

Once cool, use a small wooden spoon to form a small ball of wax and rub it onto the patch of hair you want removed, let cool, and remove in the opposite direction of hair growth. You can also use wax strips if you would prefer them to the spoon.
So there ya have it, some of the things that I tired from my Pinterest board.
Something that you have pinned that you want me to try, leave me a comment about it and I will get to work 🙂
